This is the first in a series called New Dangers To Pets (Is Your Pet Food Safe?)
This generation of pets is more susceptible to Illnesses due to the poor environment and carelessness of manufacturers! Illnesses can be transferred between humans and pets. Illnesses that you recover from can be fatal to your pet!
Rule: If it is bad for you (even if you still eat it) don’t feed it to your pet as they can die from it! If it is contagious or infectious it can be transferred back and forth between pet and humans! Things we recover from like colds and flu can be deadly for our pets, so protect them like you would your child!
Remember Menu Foods? Pet foods are still carelessly being manufactured, except now they are knowingly harming your pet by adding poisonous preservatives and ingredients!
Myth: Expensive pet products are the best for your pet!
Fact: It’s not the price; it’s the ingredients, read those labels!
Rule: Anything you should not eat, does not digest (corn and gluten) are doubly troublesome to your pet!
Myth: AFFCO is a good standard set by the government for pet foods!
Fact: AFFCO is the worst standard set by the government to be in pet food!
Rule: If the ingredients are scientific words or you don’t know what they are then don’t buy that product!
Myth: Plant Proteins are good for your pet. Manufacturers use plant proteins, because they are cheaper than real meat, robbing your pet of the needed nutrition they need.
Fact: Meat eater pet bodies are designed specifically to process real meat, so if it’s not the first or second ingredient don’t buy it! Even so if it has real meat listed first, but all the other ingredients are scientific names, don’t buy it as it overrides the nutrition of the meat!
Avoid Foods Made and Manufactured in China, because they use fatally toxic Melamine which is a component used in Plastic that killed pets in 2007. They are still killing pets by using Melamine in Chicken Jerky Treats!
Ingredients To Avoid:
- Corn and wheat gluten
- Meat and grain meals and by-products
- BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole)
- BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)
- Food Dyes (Blue 2, Red 40, Yellow 5 and 6, 4-MIE)
- PG (Propylene Glycol)
- Rendered fat
The above ingredients are either chemicals, bird, rodent and roach excreta (waste or poop) or known to be harmful to both humans and pets! FDA documents stated they are not against the use of these dangerous products!?!
Read Those Ingredients!
Note: When the economy went bad, so did the quality foods you could buy for less. Brands starting separating quality ingredients into different bags and raised the price of them significantly!
Example: Purina has two, “Pro Plan Urinary Formula’s.”
- Pro Plan: Basic Bad Ingredients: (12.99 a 16lb bag)
- Pro Plan “Focus” Chicken is the second ingredient and it has better ingredients (34.99 a 16lb bag)
Prescription Dry Food: 64.00 a 16lb bag!
Moist Prescribed Food: Another 40.00 a month
Note: I have 4 cats I need to switch them all to avoid issues and 64.00 is ridiculously unobtainable!
These companies care about their bottom line, so you have to look out for your pets!
READ THE INGREDIENT LABELS!
Tip: If the bag says Flavor it does not have real meat in it. If it is less than 12.00 over 90% of the time it has bad ingredients in it!
Myth: Pet Stores are expensive.
Fact: PetSmart is the best of the pet stores. They offer lower prices than the grocery store on name brands and carry a larger variety. They take manufacturer coupons, have a rewards card that gives me at least one 3.00 off coupon a month and purchasing online with free store pickup gives you even deeper discounts. They offer auto-ship for a slight discount as well. If you buy a certain amount online you can get free shipping. They carry specialty and prescription foods.
Treat your pet’s body like a temple! If you wouldn’t or shouldn’t eat/use it then it’s fatal to them!
That’s it for today. Give your pet a HUG for me.
Tomorrow we will discuss new dangerous cat litters as well as things outside you never realized are dangerous to cats!
Have a blessed day J
